A beautiful famille rose vase decorated with the five basic relationships (wulun 五倫). Tongzhi or Guangxu period. 

The five pairs of birds on this vase stand for the five basic relationships (wulun 五倫) in Confucianism i.e. between father and son, husband and wife, elder brother and younger brother, friend and friend, and between the Emperor and subjects. These values were fundamental in pre-modern Chinese society and have remained important even after the overthrow of the Qing dynasty. 

Condition: Checked with UV light. Two clean star-hairlines to the base. (Only one goes through to the inside of the vases). Minor nicks to the body. General wear/scratches/crazing, and manufacturing flaws. See pictures for details.
